Domaine des Ardoisières - Argile Rouge 2019

Argile Rouge is an energetic, fresh but deep red from Domaine des Ardoisières made from mostly Gamay, with Mondeuse Noire and Persan. 

The Gamay brings the liveliness, the funk, while the Mondeuse and Persan bring the power. Violets, deep spices, spicy red fruit and a very mineral structure. It's almost like a blend of your favorite natural Beaujolais with your favorite Bourgeuil Cabernet Franc, but then grown on a mountain.

The Mondeuse comes from 50 year old vines in a clay soil in Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte, the Gamay and Person from 40 year old vines on slate in Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy. Vinified in cuvee, no destemming and then an elevage in glassfibre tanks for 9 months. 

This 2019 will benefit from some time in a decanter or by opening the bottle an hour in advance.
