Jean Foillard - Morgon 'Côte de Py' 2020
Beaujolais is often compared to big brother Bourgogne. And then it always becomes clear what Beaujolais lacks, the grandeur of the premier cru's and grand cru's. But does that mean that all vineyards within one appellation are exactly equal here? Of course it doesn't. Also in Beaujolais there are vineyards that stand out above the rest: perfect location on the sun, the wind, good drainage, on average older vines.
Of course, this is not only reserved for Burgundy, Jean Foillard thought. And he decided to put his best vineyard on his labels. Cote de Py was born and is alive more than ever. Almost all the winegrowers who own a piece of this parcel now proudly label it with their 'grand cru', Cote de Py. This is a big, serious wine. In our eyes the best that comes from Beaujolais.
