One of the iconoclasts from Muscadet is this Gaïa, often acknowledged as the most special Muscadet on the market. Made by Jérôme Bretaudeau, Gaïa comes from gabbro soil (a volcanic granite) and is raised in a concrete egg for 18 months. It's rich and somewhat reminiscent of the reason that Melon de Bourgogne has that name, it's like a Loire version of a rich and succulent Aligoté / Chardonnay.
