Philip Lardot - Die Winzerin 2022

The new top wine from Philip Lardot in Mosel. This comes from the majestic Palmberg in Sankt Aldegund. Mostly very old, ungrafted vines grown on a single post system, making them a pain in the ass to work with (from experience), but the result is amazing.
In Philip's own words: "Die Winzerin, translated as the feminine form of ‘winegrower’ or ‘vigneron,’ is a Riesling from the vineyard of Palmberg-Terrassen in Sankt Aldegund. This single-vineyard bottling is one of our most historic, cherished, and deeply complex wines. From our 0.3 hectare plot, which we acquired in 2021, this 2022 is the first release. Vines planted mostly in the 50s and 60s, Palmberg is the part of Sankt Aldegund that stretches away from East-facing Himmelreich (der Bauer), into the shallow side valley of the village, orienting itself South. Grey and blue slate."
Crushed and macerated a few hours before pressing, fermentation in barrel on full lees, racked once barrel-to-barrel after 18 months, bottled after 22 months. Aged in tonneau. No sulfur added. Only 1300 bottles produced.
