Envinate - Benje Blanco 2022

Benje is the series of most natural wines by Envínate, both red and white bottled with no sulfur added. Yet, this we consider as the Chablis of Tenerife. Benje Blanco is a wine made from Listan Blanco grapes growing on very high altitudes on the Tenerife vulcano, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. 

The Listan Blanco grape is better known by it's other name used on mainland Spain: Palomino. That's thé Sherry grape. However, this couldn't be further away from that: high acidity with a hint of salinity and olives. This has been on the lees for an extended period, both in cement and neutral oak barrels. 

From vineyards of over a kilometer in height, this is island wine and it's both impressive and exciting!
