J. Neus - Muschelkalk Chardonnay 2022

One of the most surprising domain visits we did was to Weingut J. Neus in Rheinessen. A winery with a rich history of over a century, as you can see by the early 19th century wine labels and winery buildings. However, the winemaker they currently employ, Toni Frank, is a highly talented individual making the most out of the great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay terroir in Rheinessen.

This is a flinty, crispy Chardonnay with depth, ripe apple flavors and a lingering finish. A challenger for mid level Burgundy's for the price of a German white, win-win. Naturally made but also very suitable for classical drinkers.
